Hey guys,

After our interview got cancelled for the third time in August my partner has been visiting from the States and we've just been trying to keep our heads down and our minds on each other. I haven't been on the lookout for news recently so I was wondering if anyone knows anything about K1 visa interviews? Are they back on?

Is there any indication of them being back on in the near future? Or is everyone clinging on in hope until Biden's inauguration?

Nothing new or hinted on K1s. I wouldn’t cling to hope that Biden is going to prioritize fiancés shortly after inauguration.  Covid, the economy, jobs and such, are bigger issues affecting more Americans.

It will be more about Illegal Immigration. I am about to tell my fiance I will meet him in Texas with a towel. My comments are a combination of humor and frustration. I hope they will be taken that way.

Nope- I've not heard or managed to find out any new information. Just the same old:

The U.S. Embassy in London has not yet resumed K-1 visa services.  We are currently processing visas for spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens (IR-1, CR-1, IR-2 or CR-2), but are unable to proceed with fiancé(e) visa applications (K-1) or reissuances. We are taking the issue of fiancé(e) visas seriously and we will resume routine visa services as soon as possible but are unable to provide a timeframe at this time.

Your questions are answered on our website. Please keep checking our website regularly as that is where we will share updated information about the Presidential Proclamation, travel and visa services as soon as it is available. We are unable to predict when standard services will resume, but please be assured that we will update the website when there is any news.

I just checked the travel state gov site and this was recently added:

So does this mean k1s will actually be prioritized now? (even though they said we had high priority effective from the 28th August and NOTHING had changed for us, but hey, isn't like we're waiting and our lives are on hold or anything...) :DDDDD

Here's the link btw! https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/phased-resumption-routine-visa-services.html

Also new page for us brits: https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/u-s-visa-and-travel-faqs/
but some more contradiction from what state gov site says... image.png.a186f76d2c7e266cddef33fa13803466.png

It is a worldwide statement, but says “as post specific conditions permit”. The post located in London has some specific conditions that are different that other embassies around the world.

1. The country is in a lockdown at the moment. That may affect if enough people are working onsite to open another visa category, or if many are trying to do work from home.  Public transportation may be more limited during a country lockdown as well.

2.  There is a Presidential proclamation still in place that does not allow a fiancé to enter the US if the fiancé has been in the United Kingdom during the past 14 days. That makes having a fiancé visa in hand pretty much useless right now, and it could expire before it is used. The work around of spending two weeks in Mexico is not a practical solution for the general population. I would not expect London to resume K1 interviews until that travel ban is lifted and fiancés could easily travel directly to the US.

Yeah that's true. As for the lockdown/travel ban, hopefully if they reissue/process k1s again then they'd be given exception to travel. But who knows at this point. It would be nice just to be given at least a guarantee those who have expired visas (such as myself) that we will be giving a reissuance free of charge and given enough time on it so it doesn't expire so quickly considering the bans (assuming fiancés aren't given exception to travel). I also know you can't be in the UK during the past 14 days. But hopefully they will have other measures in place- it isn't like we can't provide an address where we will quarantine, plus any testings before, during, and after travel.  But just wishful thinking

“They” being the US embassy London can’t do anything about travel or overrule the President. Trump made up the rules and the exceptions.

London website on K1 visas:

Fiancé(e) visas cannot be extended. However, if you are unable to travel within the validity period of your visa due to circumstances beyond your control, you may be able to request visa reissuance once the Embassy resumes K-1 visa services. It is not possible for K-1 visas to be reissued at this time. Please keep checking this webpage for further updates. After normal operations have resumed and your unused visa has expired, please contact the Immigrant Visa Unit at that time to request visa reissuance. We will send you information about how to submit your passport, visa package (if applicable) and a letter explaining why you were unable to travel and requesting visa reissuance. The Immigrant Visa Unit will advise you at that time whether it is possible for your visa to be reissued and, if so, whether a new medical will be required. Please be aware that the extension of a medical report is assessed on a case by case basis by the Immigration Visa Unit at the time of visa issuance or reissuance.
