Question about petitioning parent and divorce papers (SPLIT)

Hi,

I’m going through this process now to bring my mom to the U.S. Does my mom need to have the divorce papers for her interview? I find that there are sections in I130 form asking for parent’s marriage termination date, but my mom lost the divorce degree. What should I do if My mom does not know that termination day?

Yes, she will need them: . If you were previously married, you must obtain evidence of the termination of EVERY prior marriage you have had. Your evidence must be an original or certified copy of one of the following documents: FINAL legal divorce decree, death certificate, or annulment papers. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-collect-financial-evidence-and-other-supporting-documents/step-7-collect-civil-documents.html
 

If she is in Vietnam, she should be able to get a copy from the court where the divorce was granted. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/VietNam.html
