So where do you think the apps get their data from, if not from USCIS?

No they get it from USCIS surely but that site updates with a huge lag

So right now your USCIS status has not changed, but the tracker app says "Case was Approved"?

I have been approved since March so this is old news but the tracker said approved way before it popped up on USCIS site. 🤷🏾‍♀️ Don't know how that worked out that way but my experience. 

 

With the tracker I was able to figure out what my lost letter was before the USCIS site told me I was approved

Those tracking sites are not official.  They pull data from USCIS.

 

And while you're at it, make sure USCIS has your correct address.  That would be the address for the petitioner.

I do have an account with USCIS. The site does not bring up anything but what I posted. 

I have updated my address twice with them. Once before I moved and after I got the text.
