There Are Many Reused Biometrics - How do you know if you'll be one of them?

I have noticed that there have been a lot of people these past few months that didn't have to do a biometrics again and the USCIS just used their old biometrics from their previous USCIS biometrics.

My question is, is there a way to know if you're biometrics will be reused? Is there rules/parameters for that like if x number of months just passed - they'll probably just reuse your biometrics? Knowing these rules or parameters might be helpful to the community for like a heads up in the process.

Anyway, my last USCIS was mid December 2018. Do you think that it was too long ago that they will ask me to take a new one for my N400 application? Or do you think they will reuse them?

Thank you for those that took the time to read my question and also for those that might answer my question.

From what I have seen, it appears that the reuse parameters change from office to office.  It also appears there was a period when some offices were trying to process cases as quickly as possible (possibly to beat the then expected furlough) and were more likely to reuse biometrics.  So I do not think there is a general rule for when / how biometrics are reused.

Thanks so much for letting me know. I guess after a long time (k1 fiance visa and aos) the uscis is still always a wild card and you can't really pinpoint the logic and the patterns. I was wondering if they changed. Hahaha. But i guess some things never change. Hahaha.

Update on my case (with regards to my biometrics):

Sept 24 - the uscis scheduled my biometrics appointment.

Sept 25 - i got the softcopy biometrics appointment letter in my documents page in my uscis account/website. My biometrics appointment is scheduled for oct 13, 2020

Sept 28 - I walked in and finished my biometrics. As soon as i walked out of the USCIS AS door, my status changed to the uscis is actively reviewing my case and that they reviewed my biometrics.

Oct 2 - i got the hard copy biometrics appointment.

So i guess they didn't reuse my biometrics. But at least i'm done with it already and just waiting for my interview to be scheduled.

A related question to Biometrics Reuse, can any of you who are in that Reuse stage now check your case status and share what it says?

My case status says I have a biometrics appointment scheduled, but the online document says "Biometrics Reuse" as does the content of the online letter. I did not receive a physical letter in the mail yet.

I filed N-400, got my NOA,

THEN online the case status & case history is confusingly mismatched wrt the letter on biometrics

Case Status and Case History show:

" October 22, 2020 We scheduled your biometrics appointment."

BUT when I look at Documents for the letter mentioned, it shows:

   "Biometric Reuse

Sent on October 22, 2020"

So now I'm worried that USCIS determined they will reuse, but they mistakenly set the case status to "biometrics appointment" to happen for which a date will never come, so I'm stuck in limbo.

Can anyone else in this state check their status and let me know?
Thanks
