Went for my interview today. Arrived 20 minutes early and they let me in. I was called to the window about 5 minutes before my appointment time, and I was done in 30 minutes. There are 5 windows and there were 5 people including myself. While we were doing our interviews the next batch of 5 trickled in to wait.

After the interview was done I waited for 20 minutes or so and was led to another room to perform the oath ceremony. Again there were 5 people so I think I only waited for our batch to proceed together. Handed a form to fill to say none of my status had changed since the interview 20 minutes beforehand, given an envelope with a letter from the president, another envelope with passport application and some other stuff, the naturalization certificate and a little US flag. I was walking back to my car at around 1h20 after my appointment time.

I was not expecting to become a citizen today! Now I need to go register to vote, as they couldn't do that part.

Hi, I live in Massachusetts and filed my naturalization application online on 03/07/2020 (I believe my field office is Lawrence, MA, based on the zip code). My biometrics was scheduled on 03/28/2020 in Hartford and got cancelled due to COVID. On 08/07/2020, they have updated my status online, saying they could reuse my biometrics and don't need to go to the ASC office for biometrics. I am waiting for the citizenship interview notification and it may happen in a couple of months and I will update the status. Thanks.

Are you closer to Hartford than Lawrence? I've read some posts on here that some applicants had interviews in Springfield.

I applied in early January but was unable to attend the first biometric appointment they offered me so that added a month of delay. I'm sorry I don't have the detail of the other dates to hand.

While I'm here though, just yesterday I got notice that my passport is on its way. I applied immediately after getting the citizenship so that makes it something like 6 weeks, which is much faster than I was expecting.

Hi! Congrats! I also became a US citizen in June and I haven’t registered to vote yet because SS office has been closed due to covid and can’t update my social.

Did you register to vote?

Yes, and I voted in the MA primary this week :)

Voter registration is nothing to do with social security. I registered via my town hall. I have not tried to do anything with social security or the RMV yet.

Thank you for the info. So means I can go to county hall and register in person 🙏
