I got my "welcome" email on tuesday, So i decided to start job hunting.

Can I start working before I have my Green card in hand?

Technically you have 90 days to provide the proof, that being said

Only if the employer is willing to hire you.

Did you get an I-551 stamp in your passport? If you did then go get a job, if you have a ss card. If not then either wait for the green card or convince an emploer to hire you without it.

No longer in the hands of the USCIS, for my wife at least, next up MIL.

They didn't have an interview, so no stamp.

Like John & Annie said, you technically have 90 days to show them the card, but they are not required to hire you if you don't have the card in hand. It would be a good time to now update your resume, iron your interviewing clothes and start hunting. You should have your actual card soon.

I thought you had to provide proof of employment eligibility within 3 days of hire, but maybe I'm wrong.

Filed AOS from F-1
Green Card approved on 01/04/07
Conditions removed 01/29/09

Citizenship Oath 08/23/12
