This was probably asked a bunch but My fiancé is from Panama. The embassy is still closed. And We never got a letter from the embassy or the NVC that it was sent to the embassy and with the instructions. Our I-129f is going to expire at the end of this month. I keep trying to call the embassy but I get a busy signal. I’m going to send them an email asking for an extension to. Because Covid19, we are all stuck in a holding pattern. Will they automatically renew it or do we need to physically get in contact With them via phone call, email, or letter?

Since embassies are closed NVC has not sent petitions to them. They will extend the petition date; practically all embassies automatically extend it.

Hi. I emailed the embassy in Nairobi twice and each time they replied within a day or so. They extended my approved I-129F for 60 days initially. I may need to ask for another extension soon. But I have heard that technically it stays valid for one year as long as you show that you are still interested in the Visa/application. So send emails etc.

oh okay. Cool. I’ll just send them an email and hopefully they respond like yours did. Thank you
