Hello everyone,

My father applied for my  his daughter (with family). Her case is at NVC. My question is , can there be 2 joint sponsors for one family. Both joint sponsors live at different addresses.

Thank you in advance .

No, you need the petitioner as a sponsor + one qualified joint sponsor. Income/assets cannot be combined across sponsors anyway, so having more than one wouldn't really help.

Edit: Let me clarify...

Each person being sponsored must have the petitioner as a sponsor and one joint sponsor (only if needed, obviously).

It is possible to have different sponsors for different individuals.

Ok let's say. Can I become joint sponsor for my sister and her husband.  My friend become joint sponsor for 2 kids. Is is possible?

In theory, yes. One possible issue that come to mind is that a friend may or may not be deemed a suitable joint sponsor. The CO takes into consideration the relationship between sponsor and applicant.

From the FAM: https://fam.state.gov/FAM/09FAM/09FAM030208.html#M302_8_2_B_2

Quote

You may consider an Form I-864, Affidavit of Support that meets all applicable requirements, in those cases where it is required, a positive factor in the totality of the circumstances -if you believe, based for example on the relationship between the applicant and the sponsor, that the sponsor is likely to actually provide the applicant with the statutorily-required amount of financially support, if needed.

The I-864 is first and foremost an agreement to ensure the applicant does not become a public charge. This means actually providing support - if needed (and of at least 125% of the FPL).

For example, the likelihood that a close family member will be supported by the sponsor is generally well accepted. The likelihood that a more distant family member, a friend, etc. will do so may not be as well accepted. The CO may want to know the details of the sponsor's relationship to the applicant.
