Hi,

I write you from Italy.

Me and my american boyfriend are talking about marriage. I would like to know if it is possible to get marry in Italy and start my procedure for cr1 visa while he will go back to the States. Like he literally come here to marry me and I will stay in Italy waiting for the visa to process.

Did anyone did it?

Thank for ansering, I'm really confused.

Ciao! Yes you can do that and it's better than the K1 visa. IF YOU BOTH ARE READY TO COMMIT...GO AHEAD AND GET MARRIED!

I am Italian but was living in Colombia so I could be near my husband while we were doing the process. It took me 11 months to get approved. Another friend of mine from Napoli, took her only 5 months, every case is different.

Hi,

I don’t know why I thought that, I think I have read somewhere that if you don’t live together and he is over sea it will be more difficult to demonstrate the bonafide marriage.
thanks

As you read further, and you will, interpret literally.  That a thing may be "more difficult" translates in to none of the "have to's" your mind went to.

what do you mean? I'm lost lol

I'm saying it is incorrect to interpret "more difficult" as a "have to".  As in you have to live together.  Evidence of living together is the "easiest way" not the only way, to provide evidence your relationship is bona fide.  Just provide evidence of time spent together in person, like passport stamps, boarding passes and photos.

In the future, when you read official instructions, interpret them literally, and in context.
