Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows if the request to reschedule an interview can be done via online message system through the MyUSCIS account?

I’m waiting for my interview to be scheduled and anticipate a delay once USCIS offices open, so I will travel to be with my husband (his case to join me is currently at NVC stage).

His home country still has all flights suspended so once I get there, there’s no easy way out until further notice :) Would I be able to re-schedule my interview online if it gets scheduled while I’m “stuck” there?

I’m not looking for advise not to travel - my mind is set on that :) I am just trying to plan for eventualities that my naturalization application moves faster than anticipated.

Hmm, the N445 says to reschedule you need to physically send the form back. I don’t think you can reschedule it online. I’m guessing printing it out and sending it from wherever you are is an option, though depending on how much notice you get and the postal service (I know it’s awful in my home country) may not reach them in time. also bear in mind you may hit a bigger problem if they reschedule but you can’t make the second date either.

USCIS page also says:

If you cannot attend your scheduled naturalization ceremony, return the notice, Form N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony, to your local USCIS office, along with a letter requesting a new date and explaining why you cannot attend the scheduled naturalization ceremony. Failing to appear more than once for your naturalization ceremony may lead to a denial of your application.

I’m afraid you’re right 😁 Postal Service is not really a thing here in my husbands country either. Maybe I can find a DHL but with current flight suspension I don’t even know if their planes are allowed to depart here.

Well, I guess I’ll find out if it ever comes to that. With backlogs and all I’m not even sure if I’ll get an interview this year lol.

Thank you!

Well, as long as you’re aware of the risks. Good luck.

Thank you :)

Yes, I’m well aware and know that whatever happens will happen based on the choices I’ve made. I’m betting a bit on flights becoming available at some point, so I can return for a possible interview. If that’s not the case, and I do end up getting an interview and mail doesn’t work either, well then so be it. I’m happy that I can be with my hubby now after 3 months of total self isolation in epi center NY 😁
