Hi,

I wanna know if someone has traveled recently from Europe to the state (JFK airport)?

I would like to know, when you arrive, what kind of medical check they do ? Put you in quarantine?

I'm in France right now but live in Connecticut. I wanna come home.

Thanks for the reply

They check your temperature, ask you questions about your health status, and if they suspect an illness may do a basic doctor screening of your ears, throat and lungs.  It's pretty worry free.  If they mildly suspect an illness, they'll just ask you to do a self-quarantine for 14 days.  If it's obvious you are ill, they may quarantine you for full test, but that is true of anyone who might come walking through who looks severely ill.

Thanks for your answer, I appreciate.

Do you know if we can book a flight on line by ourselves or if we need an authorization from the us embassy?

Citizens or green card holders don't need authorization.  You just need to find an available flight.  But you should get enrolled in the STEP program if you aren't already in case there are no flights available from your area, and need to locate a reparation flight.  They provide info to those living overseas, and will send information of any schedules flights to bring Americans home.  If you have any issues, you can always contact the us embassy with questions you have.

Hi there. I recently returned to the United States from France. As mentioned above, because you are a U.S. citizen you are allowed to fly home for the time being. I would also suggest enrolling in the STEP program. I did and they sent me daily emails regarding travel advisory and other important things. The more difficult part is finding a flight and then hoping it doesn't get canceled. I got my flights canceled and re-booked four times total. I didn't travel through JFK because no flights were available at the time, so instead I went through LAX. They did not take my temperature. They asked me if I sat in my assigned seat, where I was traveling from, where was my final destination, and if I experienced any of the symptoms listed (i.e. fever, coughing, shortness of breath, etc.) to which I replied no and they sent me on my way.

Thank you for your reply and to share your experience with us. I'm happy that you could go back home safety.

I'm not us citizen but my husband is. I'm still waiting for the green card and traveled with my advance parole to France.

I have just enrolled the STEP program today.

Did you need an authorization or a document from the us embassy ?

There are flights from paris to new York 3 times a week with air France and I would like to book a ticket as soon as possible.

Thanks

Oops! I apologize for my mistake. I am not sure about your situation. I would definitely call the US Embassy. If you explain your situation and show the correct documents, I am sure they will be able to help get you home. I did not need any additional authorization. They checked my United States passport and that was it.

Hi there! Unfortunately I am not sure about your specific situation. I traveled on a direct flight with my United States passport. The U.S. Embassy is the best source for advice regarding international travel during this time, so I would definitely follow whatever steps they advised you to take. I wish you the best of luck getting home! Safe travels and stay healthy.

Thanks.

I called the embassy this morning and they told me that I don't need any documentation to travel from them
