We had a profile on here before but can't get in the profile and it's been too long to worry about it now so we decided to make a new one to try to get some quick advice. Here's our long story short....we met, etc, etc...did the K1 thing etc, etc, ....got married and filed blah blah.

Now for the scenario....at the time of filing to adjust my wife status I had been off work due to being sick and laid off (for the previous year) so my tax return was low and didn't meet the financial federal guidelines. And I sent in paystubs showing that I was back at work

when we filed and that I make good money but they sent us a request for Joint sponsor or some assets.

So here's my questions:

This year's taxes are done and I make well above the federal guidelines.....do I still send in info for a Joint Sponsor or just send in my updated tax return and W-2?

If I am just sending my updated info, do I need to resend the other stuff? Birth Cert, SS Card, etc...since they already have that info from the original application.

The Joint sponsor I know would need to send that info but I didn't think I still needed to.

Current income is the income that counts.

Don't repeat what you already submitted.  Do as they ask in the RFE and send in your 2019 Tax Transcripts which can be printed from the IRS website. If you only do 2019 tax they still might want your sponsor.  Typically you get one shot at an RFE so make sure your powder is dry and send the cosponsor information.

We'd rather not use a cosponsor if not needed and this year's return is well above our household size requirements. We just didn't know if they would look at the new return as her sponsor or if the first tax return was the only one that would be considered despite the difference.

The only way we wanted to use the sponsor is if they wouldn't regard my new tax return.

Strongly suggest you read the I 864 and note the requirements.
