Hi All,

I am on L2 visa and my husband is on L1B. Our visa is due for renewal on september 24th 2020. Is it better to apply for renewal directly through premium process of USCIS pr is it better to go to consulate? Also among the consulates, which one is better? Canada or mexico or india(we are from india)? Canada always shows "no appointments available". mexico and india there is a chance but only thing is due to covid 19 they are closed. any idea how long is this situation?  Also mexico has only "pay by cash" option which is a bit difficult to do.

Usually it would be something your Employers Lawyer would handle.

Not sure there is a better option, at the moment moot as everywhere is shut and I thought premium processing had been cancelled as well. You guess is as good as anybody's when  things will reopen.

Consulates are closed for now, but otherwise your employer would advise you based on your husband’s job and which Consulate you would plan to schedule your visa appointment. Some consulates are verrryyy difficult to get an approval. Chennai India denies almost all L blanket petitions. If you have enough time, are currently in the US, and if you don’t have travel plans, it seems like it would make the most sense to apply with USCIS via regular processing, filing closet to the end of your status expiration date and your husband could continue to work for up to 240 days after his I-94 expires.
