My status is Ready, but embassy doesn’t have our case

Hi guys,

Our case has been in the process of transfer since Nov 2019 and our status changed from TP to Ready 10days ago. New embassy code was following after our original case number.

I contacted to embassy as I haven’t gotten any notification from them. According to them, our file hasn’t arrived yet and they’ll contact when our file arrives. Does it mean our case was transferred electronically only?  Doesn’t matter with status on online, saying Ready? It’s almost been 4 months since we requested transfer. So frustrating.

Anybody had a similar experience? Please share with me. TIA.

There are two "ready" conditions. The first "ready" is the electronic file arrival. The second "ready" is the physical check in of the paper file which indicates that they are ready to move forward with the interview phase. This is where you begin to complete the DS-160, pay the interview fee, schedule the interview appointment and also complete the medical. Unfortunately you'll need to dig deeper for a little more patience.

Have you been to your embassy to download the P3 letter with all the documents that are required for the interview? Here is the link to the PDF. https://kr.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/75/K1.pdf and https://www.ustraveldocs.com/kr/kr-iv-typek1k2.asp

Your country/regional discussion here on VJ where you can ask more specific questions about your case with others from SK.

Good luck.

You transferred your case file to a different embassy?   That can take a couple months.    And explains why your CEAC status showed READY when the case file isn't at the new embassy.

Most times the case file prefix doesn't chance, you were issued a new case file number?    That is cool.

Yes I requested case transfer to another embassy. My case number stays same but three new embassy code is following after original one.

I asked them how this happened but didn’t get enough explanation. Like @Greenbaum said, I guess only electronic file arrived for now. 😔

Not really.   Your CEAC status went to READY because your case file was at the embassy (the other embassy).   CEAC status doesn't go to READY because the digital file is at the embassy, if that were the case it would have went to READY when the embassy released the case file number to NVC before the physical case file was shipped.

You will get some out of ordinary CEAC status because of your case file being transferred between the embassies.

Good to know nothing has changed with the case file numbering, process had always been that the case file # from the previous embassy would still be your case file # at the 2nd embassy .. and that still is the process.  I appreciate the update.

Thanks fore the reply.

So does it mean that my file hasn’t arrived at new embassy yet? (Even though status says Ready)  The more I am concerned, the more I get confused. 😅

Very possible.  Which is why when you call the embassy they say they don't have the case file yet.   Like said earlier, I have seen it take a couple months for the case file to arrive at the 2nd embassy after a transfer request.

Just have to be patient

How did you request the transfer?    The transfer request is initiated at the embassy where you want the case file to be transferred to, they will contact the embassy where the case file was initially shipped by NVC.   < Is that what you did?

Sorry it is taking so long, it happens.

You mean, original embassy?

I sent a email a while ago, and they confirmed that our case was transferred through diplomatic pouch on specific date, saying it’ll take 2-4months.

and I keep contacting with new embassy.

Wrong embassy to be in contact with, everything is based with the "2nd embassy", they make the transfer request ... after that it requires patience.

My experience is that some have had movement on their file after contacting the sending embassy.
