My mom received the dreaded 221(g) form at her interview on 12/09/19.

They didn’t request additional documents but needed to verify themselves that mother has been outside of the United States for 10 years. She had a 10 year ban for residing in the states illegally.

on 12/23/19 they sent her passport back upon request for holiday travel. They sent it back immediately which was nice. Although, they did tell me that everything was on hold until they got the passport back. They got it back on 01/30/20. I know that this will make ap longer for her.

I've read horror stories of people in AP for years. The website says it takes 60 days. Anyone else have any experience in AP?

Montreal is usually slow to process anything sent after the interview. Few weeks to a few months is their normal. Email them after 60 days if nothing has moved.

The 60 days is an estimate and goal. There is no hard time limit.

That said, most cases do complete AP within months and not years.

Thanks everyone :) I have reserved my panic attack for May as that will be well over the 60 days but most importantly when my mother’s medical exam results expire lol.

I have only read a couple of cases that took over two years but yes, for the most part I know it takes a few months. I will post when we are out of AP for others who may be in the same situation.
