Hi,

I was on STEM OPT and my H-1B got approved this december,2019.

I didn't travel out of United States and didn't get stamped yet.My H-1B approval letter has an I-94 which shows the validity date till 2022.

When i went for DL renewal i was told that USICS systems still has my OPT end date and not the H1B end date.My employer informed that they have updated from their side.

Is it a lag in the USCIS systems or i have to wait go out of country and get it stamped to update in USCIS.

But when i generate my i-94 from the website,https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/ ,i see that it is still showing Class of Admission as F1 and Expiration Date different from the date in H1B approval letter.

When does the I-94 gets updated ?

yes your h1b i-94 has not been activated. it wont happen until you leave and come back into the country on h1 visa.  its not a glitch

Since your petition was filed as a change of status and a new I-94 has been attached to the approval notice, you are not required to travel to activate your status.

CBP website will not reflect your I-94 expiration from USCIS because they only monitor when you physically enter/leave the US.

You should be able to renew your license through the validity period listed on your current I-797. If you have any issues, try asking for a supervisor (when you are able to get back to the DMV or try calling the local office)
