My son and daughter in law just received notification that they will receive a request for evidence letter in the next week or two.  We are assuming that it is probably financial support evidence.  How long do they give you before you need to submit the information?

Thanks.

at this point all is needed is the 2018 tax returns and he has them /  if not enough income,  he may need a cosponsor (but this is only guessing till you  get that (RFE)

it could be for a birth certificate or # of other things

If there is a time limit to submit the documents for the RFE,  it will tell you

i have seen 30 days and 30 business days and with the 3 major holidays coming up,  who really can tell

If I recall correctly, there is a stated deadline on the actual RFE notice for submission of additional evidence. I think it is usually 4 - 6 weeks. Our last encounter with RFEs was over four years ago, and you basically want to be done with them, and not commemorate them.  However, one possible plus to an RFE is that if you have more supplemental data/evidence to submit, adding it to the RFE response packet can be helpful. Another plus is that at least you know that your file is in the active adjudication phase of your application's journey. 👍

Good luck on your immigration journey.
