Dear Sirs.

Please let me know if you have knowledge about the situation of Venezuelan citizen who has the passport expired and they are not able to obtain an extension of the validity as they are currently living abroad or they have been waiting for extension approval for months and months.

Currently the Identification authorities (SAIME) is a totally corrupted institution and there is a high possibility that you can not get a passport. However, Venezuela is not denominated as communist - controlled country but is well known specially in US what the situation is.

I will appreciate if someone could give me some guidance.

Kind regards,

Lisbeth

If you look at the official Dept of State guidelines they are accepting the announced five year extension on existing passports.

Effective, June 7, 2019, Venezuelan passport validity was extended an additional five years  past the date of expiration printed in the passport. Venezuelan passport holders who have already received an extension or “prórogga” will have the validity period extended by five years from the end date of the extension. NVC will accept all Venezuelan passports, valid or expired, so long as it is still considered valid after adding five years to the printed expiration date.
