They will extend at the interview

Applicant schedules the interview,  if there is a sooner opening then it can be changed.   The consulate can and often does extend the validity for up to one year.   This will happen particularly if they only have limited slots.   Don't expect the consulate to move it forward just because of this, because they don't have to.  They have a mechanism to deal with this

Mine was after and had no issues. It valid through 8/25 a d interview was 9/8.
