Hello as the title says I filed the AOS paperwork after the i94 expired. I did not know it was a problem until after it expired . I was sure that as long as we were married before that time we could file the AOS paperwork whenever we can.. can anyone give me any advice on what the next steps should be

You’re fine. As long as AOS is filed, you are in a period of authorized stay. You should be good.
