Green Card interview but US citizen currently unemployed

Hi all -

My husband came to the country on a K-1 visa. We've had zero problems as of now, and everything has gone smoothly.

However, next month we have his interview scheduled so that he can be approved for his Green Card.

We just moved, and my husband (non-US citizen) is our main source income right now. I am still job searching, yet I know I am the one "financially responsible" for him.

Does anyone know if this is a problem? If I have extremely part time work by the time of the interview, will we be flagged for that? My husband is making well above the poverty level.

Thanks!

He can try taking a filled out I-864A: https://www.uscis.gov/i-864a

The immigrant can provide proof of income as a household member. You will still be held lawfully obligated to be financially responsible though as the sponsor. Fill out a new I864 as the sponsor and he can be claimed in Part 6 questions 8, 9 and 10. He will not need to file an I864a as per I864 instructions as the immigrant as they are excluded from needing to file one. Check the instructions out.
