Trump administration might require hospitals to reveal discounted prices they give insurers

This is what congress should be working on if they could stop attacking Trump long enough. Having just had surgery, we have a crisis in health care in regard to hospital pricing and out of network providers, t hat mysteriously pop up out of no where

Transparency in medical prices would be a good thing.

Also requiring providers to be in the network they provide services at would be great.

 

I paid all my deductibles and out of pockets ahead of time for my recent neck surgery, which was really great,. However weeks later I get unexpected bills from tertiary providers that were not in network. Anesthesiologist et even found out my surgeon nurse practitioner was out of network.

This is very common. Thankfully for my long hospital stay and surgeries my providers were in-network. Though I just received a letter from my second surgeon that he will no longer be participating with my insurance because they barely pay them. I'm guessing that means the entire GI unit of the hospital will now be sending out unexpected bills to patients needing emergency care.
