Getting AB60 Driver License in California on K-1

Hey Everyone! I've made it to LA on my K-1 visa, gotten married, gotten my marriage certificate, gotten my SSN (waiting on my SSN in my married name), and sent in my AOS package.

I have a DMV appointment in mid-August and have decided to apply for the AB60 in order to not wait until EAD.  My question is: when I go to my appointment, will I leave the DMV with a driving permit? My husband and I are debating purchasing a vehicle now, and if I have a permit to drive it, even with a licensed driver in the car, it would be great practice for my road test and not mean a car sitting parked until I can sit the practical test.

Any insight?  Thank you in advance!

Cars and driving are a big deal in America so I think it's a good step for you. Also, if both you and your husband purchase the car together with a shared loan, it will provide good comingling financial evidence for the AOS and later the i751 application where you remove conditions from your green card. Good luck.
