My husband and I are ready to file for a CR-1. He is from Kenya. I am headed back there next month to meet him next month. We have a co-sponsor from his family member living in the US. When I return to Kenya I am considering staying for some months. Is it possible to file DCF if I file the CR 1 before I go to Kenya? Would that affect the process? Is it possible to file for a tourist visa after filing the CR-1?

No DCF in Kenya.  However, the F in DCF is "filing".  You cannot file after you file.

A Warning to Green Card Holders About Voting

Kenya does have a USCIS field office for DCF. However, the requirements before you can file there vary...usually you need 6 months of physical presence and/or actual residency there.

Note that DCF is slated to go away at all offices in early 2020. Field offices are tending to stop taking applications ~60 days prior. So DCF may be gone by the time you qualify.

I don't think this is correct...

My bad.  Yes there is DCF in Kenya at the moment but since the OP doesn't live there, they cannot DCF.  Certainly cannot file and THEN DCF.  If the OP moved there today, six months from now, when eligible to DCF, the option will likely no longer exist.

DCF never saved time, unless the petitioner already lived in the applicable country.
