As with every POE,  passport control is first,  then baggage claims,  then customs

YMMV

Most POE airports are easy to travel through. Immigration is first, followed be retrieving your baggage, then to customs.  Once through customs your'e free to roam the USA. Go online and research the airport. Print off a map to bring along.  If you have questions at anytime there are so many ways to get help. My favorite is to walk up to someone that has to do with what your trying accomplish and ask for help.

You can find reviews of POE at SFO here:

As @Greenbaum points out, upon entering the immigration area at SFO, look for an officer or assistant in the queuing area who can give you specific instructions for the day.  Changes are made frequently at the SFO POE, so specific procedures can change, so it is best to ask which line you should be queuing.   On the day we passed thru, we were told to queue in the US Citizen line.
