This is what I found online:

221(g) Pink Form: A pink form is issued when the Visa officer is suspects the information provided within the petition. This could be related to work, qualification or purpose of visit. Cases like these require additional administrative processing. If you receive a pink form, the visa officer will provide you with a reference ID where you can track the status of each application online.

Hope this helps...

I also received the yellow letter as well for my wife's I-485.  Yellow is for an RFE.  As far as resending your W2 again for the pink paper, it wouldn't hurt if you felt more comfortable sending it, but the instruction should lsit exactly what they need.  If it's not listed, you're good.

I received a yellow letter saying they needed my w2s, bank info, and retirement funds. I sent that and now they ask on a pink form for a complete federal income tax return for (IRS 1040). Do I sent the w2s again with the 1040? Also what do the different colors mean?

thank you

A complete 1040 is not complete without the w2s and schedules.  Include them again

YMMV
