No interview for I-485 applications and GC (adjusting from K1)?

Hi guys,

I've been wondering about this question for a while now. I heard that some people got their GC after adjusting from K1 without an interview. I'm just curious how that works. I understand that this could be a case by case scenario. Usually you don't send any proof with your I-485 except of your marriage certificate. What would happen if you send proof along with your I-485 and Affidavit of Support I-864? Would they reject it or would they just don't care?

Thanks in advance!

The policy changed on May 15th, 2018 that removed K1s from the list of possibly having their AOS interview waived.

Likely anyone you heard about wasnt a K1 or had this happen before the aforementioned date.

Thanks for your reply. It actually happened this year. Maybe it was because they filed before May 15th, 2018?! Anyways, good luck to you for the rest if your journey! :)

Sooner or later you will likely have to go in to an USCIS Field Office, for an interview with an immigration officer. We had an AOS live interview (from hell) and were waived by on the ROC interview. So save up all of your paper and documents, etc. for the ROC interview.

YMMV.

Completed: K1/K2 (271 days) - AOS/EAD/AP (134 days) - ROC (279 days)
