EAD/AP Combo Card renewal

Hello everyone,

I am waiting for my interview for I-485. I received my EAD/AP combo card on 31st October 2018. I need to renew both the EAD & AP. As per the information on USCIS website it seems that the earliest date for EAD renewal is 180 days prior to expiration & for AP is 120 days before expiration. My question is, when should I file for the renewal since the earliest dates for both EAD & AP are different. If I file the EAD renewal application now & then AP renewal when 120 days are remaining, will I get the combo card again or separate cards? Or can I file both applications together right now? I am very confused. I tried to search the forum for answers but couldn't find any. any help will be appreciated. Thank you :)

The earliest date to file for renew is 180 days before the expiration date, they changed it last year. I highly recommend sending it out on the 180-day mark because it's taking forever for them to process it, I filed for renewal last August and didn't get anything yet (probably my case fell in one of their black holes).

Dear Jessiel, thank you for your reply. So the renewal date for both the EAD & AP is before 180 days? I want to try and send out the renewal this week itself so as to be close to the 180 day mark. I guess once you send out the renewal application, USCIS automatically grants a six month extension. I hope you hear news soon about your case.

Actually, even earlier is better; limits the time without valid AP. For some reason, combo card renewals are taking about 7 months. Per the I-765 and I-131 instructions, AOS-based requests can be submitted at any time (i.e. no need to wait).

That's very helpful. Thank you so much :)
