Nate wants to get a car bra for our honda, we found 2 different ones that he likes , LeBra and Covercraft (both under $70). If anyone can give me advice about which is the better of the two that would be great.

Also are they difficult to attach? And do they just attach to the bumper or the frame of the car.

Thanks :)

DONT GET A BRA!!! First off, its a little hard to get on. The leather is pre-shrunk so you'll have to stretch & pull to make it fit properly. But the biggest reason for not getting it is that small rocks get stuck under it (from wind & driving) and will do more damage cause it will keep scratching, than if you didn't have it at all. My friend had one on her toyota celica a couple years ago, and when she took off the bra & saw what happened underneath, she regretted ever getting it.

p.s. they are not cooling looking anymore either :P

Car bras were cool in the 80s. They aren't cool now - for a reason. As the wind blows across the front of the car, it causes the bra to flap at a high frequency, rubbing the paint off of the car where the edge of the bra contacts it. I learned that one the hard way back in '88.

Living here in an area of Pennsylvania where they use tons on shale on the roads in winter, I have had bras on every car I've had for the last 22 years.

They aren't that hard to put on at first if you follow the instructions and lay it in the sun to warm up first. Alternately, if the weather is cold when you buy it, you can roll it up and secure it with string and put it in the clothes dryer for 10 minutes or so with the heat setting on medium.

They can get small stones underneath them, but they are easy to see by the little bumps, and easy to remove. Even it they scratch the paint a little, it's much better than having the paint literally beat off your hood by shale.

I've always removed them in summer.

Another thing to think about is this, Auto Bras restrict the air flow to the radiator making the engine run a little hotter than before. My car used to overheat so much but it all got better once I took off the auto bra. When ever someone would ask me to look at their car cos it was overheating, my fist question was always, 'Do you have an auto bra on it?' 9 times out of 10 problem solved. I knew I should have charged for diag! :P

Then again I live in the land of 110F summers and 80F winters, bit it's still something to think about.

ETA: if you ABSOLUTLEY have to have one, get one that's flannel lined like Wolf brand, won't rub the paint off as fast as the nylon backed ones. Mine was a Wolf brand Auto Bra.

If you leave the bra on for a long period of time will it make the paint fade a little after you take the bra off? I never used a bra i think they are out of style now i don't see them on cars anymore.

I never had any paint fading problems, but all my paint has been factory original, plus I take it off in the summer......there's not much sun here in the winter. The instructions say there might be a fading problem if your paint isn't original. They recommend a good coat of wax before installing.

Incidentally, I've always bought Le Bra brand.

For me it's never been a style thing. With all the shale (stones a little smaller than a pea) they use on the highways here in the winter, it's a matter of having the paint literally beat off the front of your hood.
