[K1] When to schedule medical?

Hi all,

I have looked around and I haven't been able to find a definitive, up to date answer for this.

The NVC tracking on our K1 says 'In Transit'. I am expecting to have all the documents needed for the medical by the end of today.

Can I book the medical now, or do I have to wait for the tracking to say 'Ready' or to receive a letter from the consulate?

I'm sorry if this has been answered recently, people guide me to the post if possible.

Thank you.

You can book medical - all they require is your case number etc -  and you will probably be able to book your interview (i was, and my case is also in transit) Just checked DHL and they have arrived:)

The definitive answer comes from your embassy. It says wait for a letter from them which says apply for the visa.  However experiences for many years have shown that the only thing the clinic will ask you on the phone is your LND case number. Tell them your number or make up one, and Voila! --you get an appointment. The problem some people find is they were not prepared for the appointment because their only goal was to get a date set. They rush in clueless about what they need to take to the medical appointment and kinda screw themselves.. They find that their GP won't be able to provide needed paperwork for weeks. Oops! Panic! If you are prepared, then carry on ringing up the visa medical clinic.
