I am going to be moving to Arizona soon. I want to cut down on anything that I really don't need to move. I have this desktop (Dell Dimension 3000 with 2.53 GHz Celeron processor and 1 GB RAM) which I dont' want to move along with the huge computer desk it sits upon.

I'd like to get a notebook so I can basically take it anywhere I go. I don't really want to spend a lot of money for the time being but would like something comparable or better than this Dimension. I have about $1000 to spend. Anyone have any suggestions?

Dell outlet store - get new or reconditioned machines for a lot less than the regular retail. I've had one for 4 years with no problems...

Get a Macbook. Those are around that price range. They keep hte value very well and are very portable. I got mine a year ago, and intend to keep it for a long time.
