Do I need a lawyer?

Hi good day to all!!! Im bit confused because my husband has a previous  court record but hes done with his probationary period.  My questions is should we hire a immigration lawyer? Because we did try to approach the immigration lawyer but im in doubt coz he gave my husband another form which is not the same form that uscis had. Im scared maybe we will waste our money. He charged us overall process $5,000  till removal of the condition once I got there including my son's visa as well. Please need your enlightenment. God bless..

My husband is the USC and he will be the one who will petition me and my son

Please don't take this as trying to get details, but the decision to get a lawyer, or if a lawyer is even required really depends on the crime he committed and was convicted for.

 

This might be helpful.  I would say if his crime isn't on the list, then more than likely you may not need a lawyer.

My fiance and I made the decision to hire an attorney more for guidance and support. I'm glad I did as our case got more and more complicated after his interview. But I did NOT pay $5,000.

 

I would have taken my business elsewhere. It is totally your call whether or not to hire an attorney. Many here will tell you it's a waste of money. All I will suggest is to "shop around." My attorney is a great guy and I do believe he truly cares about us and our happiness. So much so that he has many times hinted at my joining his firm.

 

I wouldn't do business with someone where all I felt like was another check cashed.
