Simple Name Correction

Hi All,

I'm currently helping my sister apply for N400, got stuck on a name part which I can't figure out an answer.

The current name is "Ja ne Kim" where Ja ne being the first name and Kim being the last name. She has no middle name.

She would like to remove the space and have an official name as Jane Kim.

Need a bit of advice on how we should fill out the form, maybe request name change just to be safe?

Confirmed that full Ja ne is entered as the first name on all her current documents (License, passport, etc.).

Any advice is appreciated! Thank you!

By coincidence, somebody just asked a similar question. The following might help you.

https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/correcting-your-name-when-obtaining-us-citizenship.html

It says in one section that "USCIS may be willing to add a space or remove a space in between two names, yet refuse to change the spelling. To illustrate, say the full name on a girl’s birth certificate was “Jane Doa,” but she considered her true name to be “Janedoe Maxwell.” USCIS would probably approve a correction to “Janedoa Maxwell” if the father’s last name on the birth certificate was Maxwell."

Good luck!
