Greetings everyone,

I wanted to know if someone could explain to me how long it will take for the next action after I received my receipt number for an I-30 petition for my wife, what will I have to do next and how long is the process?

It depends. This is only the first notice telling you they have received your I-130, not an approval notice, correct? In that case, you won't be doing anything for quite a while. What service center is your petition at? It will take 5-10 months for petition approval depending on what service center your case has been assigned to, and then it will be sent to the NVC IF it is approved and you haven't gotten any Requests for Evidence. Until it is sent to the NVC after approval, you won't be doing anything. From start to finish, the entire visa process currently takes around 12-14 months.

  • Waiting for: NOA2

Thank you Mrs. Lily, another question. How will they contact me? Will it be e-mail or regular mail? Because I have been waiting close to 12 months now.

Has your petition already been approved and waiting to go to the NVC stage? Or is it still being processed for approval? What service center are you at/where are you in the process?

I’m still waiting. Service center in Nebraska

If you filed the petition more than twelve month ago, call and inquire.  It is overdue for action.
