My wife had her interview on Feb 19th at the Embassy in Cairo for her IR1 visa. She is of Sudanese nationality. That consular officer told her "congratulations, welcome to America" and "you will get your passport back in one week. Well it has just passed a week for us now, and the CEAC still shows "Ready" with the last date updated as 2/21.

Is this standard procedure? I saw that most people were getting their K1 and CR1/IR1 visas in just a few days after their interviews. Is this because she is a third country national? We had hoped to reunite this week, but looking at the case, we are not really sure how long it will take now. It's really killing us being apart as long as we have been already. So we are both hoping for a speedy reunion.

Is it worth it to try to call the embassy or NVC to get more info, or will they just give you a generic canned answer?
