Manila Bay - Is it really cleaned up now?

I keep seeing some pics on FB regarding Manila Bay now being clean, especially the area near the US Embassy.

Has or can someone swing by and look at it and update me.  The last time I saw it in October it was a cesspool or trash and floating bottles

Just when you think you have TDS eradicate,  a new case shows up.

Give it a week to get dirty again.  Two years ago I did a beach cleanup in Bohol.  A week later it was pretty bad

Wait until the next good rain for the trash to be flushed out of all those local creeks. I took the ferry last summer and it was pretty bad. I wouldn't count on swimming there anytime soon! 🤢

Just leave the US Embassy and walk up any street, it is full of trash and some of horrible smells you can encounter, it makes me want to puke. It is pungent like rotting meat that has been in the sun for weeks or maybe that is urine or fecal material, either way it's nasty.

My fiancee was telling me how it smelled like piss right outside the embassy. So it really is true.

Oh, it can be much worse than that. I was in Manila during typhoon Ondoy in '09. In Tondo, the local trash-filled creek overflowed and spilled into the neighborhood. I was wading through black water with trash, dead rats & roaches floating around everywhere. It was an adventure but not one I'd care to repeat...

If you go to the Main Entrance where the vehicles enter and walk across the street, there is a little cut in concrete barrier so you don't have to walk and take the bride.

There is a street going directly away from the USEM, called Arquiza start there and walk about 4 blocks which will take you past Red Planet Hotel Manila Bay and to the Cowboy Grill on Mabini Street.  You will smell all kinds of rank smells,  darn near make you want to blow chunks.

If you want an added treat,  the street kids hang out on Arquiza street after you Mabina and they will try to pickpocket you after dark.  They come up and say Daddy can I have money for food, and then after you say no they will then attempt to go into your pockets.  I was attempted pickpocketed 3 times in one week in the same area.
