Does a new case number get assigned on a transferred case file to a new Embassy

When a case is transferred from one embassy to another embassy does the case number get changed? If so, how is the beneficiary notified? How do they follow their case status for this transfer, CEAC?

When my wife's case was transferred from Riyadh to Manila last year, she did NOT get a new case number. Her case number still began with RID when she did the DS-160, medical, and interview in Manila.

They did give her a little bit of a hard time at SLEC since they thought she was being processed at Riyadh still, but she explained the situation and had a copy of the transfer email + CEAC status.

 

When the transfer completed, Manila sent her the same email they send everybody when their case arrives there.

The only way to get a new case # would be if the file was routed back through NVC.   If the transfer goes direct then case # would remain

Will the beneficiary have a problem with paying her fee online with the "old" case number as it will not begin with MNL but another alpha nomenclature? Or does she need to do anything different when paying the fee.

Nope. Same process.

You establish your profile with case number then you link your payment to your profile
