Marriage License and Certificate?

Are the marriage license and certificate 2 separate documents?  We only have one paper and that is what we sent in with our AOS application.  Our paper says "License and Certificate of Marriage". So it is on the same paper right?  I had to pay $5 a copy for it so I assume it is?  However, it i just the application paper we filled out at our wedding.  All they did was make copies of it and then stamp it with a notarized seal that says, " Certified True and Correct Copy of Original Record" at the top.

Yes they are.

The license is the document you pay for at the county clerk's office in both of your names and is brought to your wedding ceremony which is signed by the officiant who marries you and then they submit it back to the county clerk to make your marriage legal. You would then be sent an official copy of your marriage certificate which states who got married, when and where it happened and who the officiant was. It would have an official raises seal on it. That is what you send a photocopy of. Not the original marriage license which only gives you permission to get married.

We paid $50 for the application, but then after we were married I had to pay $5 to just get a copy of the application with the official seal on it.  We never got the other document you are talking about.  They only gave me the "License and Certificate of Marriage" application document.  This document does have an official raises seal on it though.  I wonder what I should do.  Its just confusing that our paper says "License and Certificate".

OK thats what we are unsure about. It has the raised seal on it, but it is exactly 100% the same document we pay $50 for and filled out the day of our wedding.  They only made copies of it when I delivered it in person and then charge me $5 a copy with the official seal they added.  I guess my place combine the license and the certificate?

You could also order a second MC from the county clerk who processed your MC. Either there or Vital Statistics and compare them to what you have.

That is where I got these from was from the county clerk.  I guess I could look up the vital statistics thing you are talking about.

Email your county clerk with your copy attached? Ask them if it is the format that they issue MCs in in your county.

Help please! I have questions about filing AOS. I want to use my husband’s last name for my current legal name cuz we already got married. my whole name is:

First name: DIMPNA ROSE

Middle name: CASTROMAYOR

Last name: CABRILES

my married last name now is: TARR

 

now i wanted to file my current legal name as:

First name: DIMPNA

Middle name: ROSE

Last name: TARR

So it would appear like this: Dimpna Rose Tarr

 

Now my question is, is it posible to use as my current legal name DIMPNA ROSE TARR and/even i get rid of my middle name and maiden name? 

I just wanted to use that 3 names of mine and get rid my middle name and maiden name. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it.
