No one at the USCIS misinformation line can answer that question - they are just a call center and have no connection to actual cases or adjudicators (unless perhaps they sent you an RFE and you didn't receive an a case update or snail mail of the request - they could tell you that).

If you case is outside of processing times listed on the USCIS website, you can ask your congressman or senator to inquire for you. Otherwise, you just have to be patient and wait it out.

Based on timeline data, your I130 may be adjudicated as early as May 15, 2007*.

If this date has passed by more than 10 days or your application is past due per USCIS processing times then you should consider calling the USCIS to inquire on your petition. If you have been approved please update your timeline.

Thats not so far away. Do I cann in to listen to the computer tell me the same information thats in the email system? How do I get through? thanks!

This is a Visa Journey guesstimate - it says "may be adjudicated by" and it's based on the timelines of the people here on VJ. You need to check the USCIS processing times.

As of May 18, the oldest petition California has not completed processing is from November 26, 2006.

When the date posted on the California service center processing times for I-130 is past your receipt date of Feb. 6, 2007, you can inquire with the USCIS information line.

I didn't ask how to reach them - I just clarified for you what the VJ timeline means vs. the USCIS processing timelines.

Glad to hear you were approved. Approval information is normally available on your online case status and in an email sent to the petitioner.

Just so you understand, the number you called is the USCIS information line - not the California Service Center. That was the point I was trying to make - there are no longer any published phone numbers to contact a service center directly. I don't believe I ever indicated that you could not speak to a live person - just that you cannot call the CSC directly and speak to a person there who could explain to you what was holding up your case.

http://tinyurl.com/25ab5y

You can call U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) toll-free for automated information and live assistance concerning immigration services and benefits within the U.S., including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

ahhhh i called that telephone number, and pressed all the appropriate options- it took me to a live person but it was just

a customer care representative, and she knows nothing more than I do. When i asked her about a contact number to CSC- she said they don't have a number for applicants. so i am confused as to how did some of the people able to get in touch with CSC..or was it just the customer representative who let u guys know about ur approval.

Sorry - I missed this post last time around.... No problem!

I said "Hi my name is John and I am asking about my visa application for my wife. We have been married for a few years already and have a baby. We are seperated until the visa comes through, so I am very anxious anout the visa. I saw that I had multiple ouches at the beginning of the month, but there has been no activity for weeks. I am wracking my brain trying to think of what the problem is! So I am calling you to see if there is an RFE."

She then said, well, thats easy. You were approved on May 10th.

I suppose it might have been a national call center, although it certainly felt like I was talking to someone @ CSC.... And, unless she was lying to me, she at very least has more information than is available on CRIS.... Hmmmm.

It WAS the national call center. They read information directly off their screen, that's why you were able to hear about your approval when it apparently had not been updated on your on-line case status or via email.

What they cannot do is explain why a case is delayed or provide information specific to your case processing (unless a person was sent an RFE that they didn't get or an approval that they didn't' know about like in your case.)

Yep.. I also got in touch with someone in CSC -- at least thats what the automated system seemed to imply when they were transfering to CSC. The lady was very polite. I said that I think I may have an RFE and just wanted to confirm. She checked and said that I will have to wait -- and that there are no RFE's as of now !!.

Also just as a side note those who got through the automated system -- did you guys see a touch the next day on your I129F. I saw a touch for 5/24.. but I think this may be related to the call I made to CSC yesterday...
