Hello everyone! My fiancé is from Afghanistan and we are in the middle of the K1 visa process. Our interview was in April and they told us to wait 6-8 weeks but it has now been 8 months and we are stuck in Administrative Processing. When my fiancé and I email the embassy,  they just say that they are basically doing background checks. Has anybody gone through something similar and how long did they AP take ? This is incredibly frustrating esp since when I check ceac, it shows that my case is only opened/updated  when either my fiancé or I email them! Any advice is appreciated <3

Everybody else on this site speaks of AP as a black hole. It's sad news but it seems to be a reality that you can't change, even with external influence. On the bright side, I have seen couples stuck in AP for a year or more (especially from countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan) that did eventually get approval. All you can do is wait sadly, and hope you get news sooner rather than later.

Hoping this doesn't happen but, preparing for the worst, if you get denied make sure you understand the reason so you can see if its just a matter of building a stronger relationship and filing for a IR1/CR1, or whether you need to hire an attorney to help tackle more sensitive issues.

in my opinion your better off having your fiance come to Afghanistan and then get married, file for CR1, and send out a letter to kill the K1.

your more likely to get an approval on the CR1.
