So I took the train up to see my hubby since he can't get leave to be home for our anniversary. We spent the weekend in Ottawa, downtown at the Westin. WOW!!! What a time to be downtown eh...it was really cool to see how happy everyone was over the Sens big win. Ottawa has never had so much police protection in one place ever I dont think..on one corner ......near a couple patio bar t.v's there were 17 strategically placed Ottawa officers......of course I had to give em all chit!!

So we went to The Keg for dinner and then to Yuk Yuk's. Me and my big mouth......the only American in there and I had to admit it. I couldn't resist though after the MC asked this one woman if she was American and the outraged woman exclaimed " THAT'S AN INSULT"........I just wanted her to know that "we" were among them....she was an ignorant blankety blank anyway. So I got some playful ribbing from the MC about not bringing my gun and being a Republican and of course she brouhgt up the war of 1812.........I couldn't resist and I blurted out "OH FOR GODS SAKE GET OVER IT ALREADY!!!!!!!!" The headliner was hilarious and all in all it was a really good time. The city was still howling at 3 am. Very exciting for Ottawa.

So......thus far Ive had 4 Large Tim's double doubles, an everything bagel with cream cheese, a large poutine a Keg ceasar, a Keith's........3 more days to go and more poutine tomorrow me thinks!!!!

Uh HUH....Im GOIN' ta hell!!!!! :P

I couldn't help giggling when you told the story about the MC at Yuk Yuks. If it helps, you can take solace in the fact that your husband will be the one getting the ribbing when he moves to the US. If I had a dime for everytime I've told someone down here I'm from Canada and the first thing they ask me is "Oh do you know John from Canada?!" ...I'd be rich hehe.

It's just one of those random jokes sometimes made towards us Canadians in reference to how small and unpopulated Canada is. Basically the assumption is that we all know each other and are all related lol.

My favorite story is when I was in Seattle awhile back, and convinced a guy that the polar bears terrorized my front yard. My other Canadian friends were in tears just laughing at this poor guy who was just freaked out at the thought of visiting Canada. It was mean, but... oh, so funny. :D

Glad ur having a blast. Enjoy ur tims!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
