Work Verification advise

3 posts in this topic

I have paystubs, which I was planning to use as work verification but it shows me as single, I try fixing this with my company but they said since I filed Married Separately  It will show you as single. Should I still use paystub I mean is it going to be a problem? Or should I use my employment agreement, which is like 7 months old. Any suggestions?

What form/process are you filing for that you plan to use a paystub for? You can get an "employment verification letter" if you like, but if it's for the I-864 step at NVC, none of that is being asked for ... your last 3 years' tax return transcripts & your I-864 EZ (assuming you qualify to file it) is sufficient, so nobody cares for the paystubs, EVL, etc.

All that said, your "marital status" in the context of paystubs and withholdings etc. are all irrelevant; they simply advise your employer how much of your income to withhold at source, and you could request a much higher withholding by specifying you want to be considered "single" and add a dozen deductions too. At the end of the year, you'll get a giant refund back from the IRS of your own money. For immigration purposes, your tax transcripts will tell the story if you're filing single vs married (jointly or separately does not matter).

Incorrect.  Providing evidence of current income IS a requirement with the Affidavit of Support.  The pay stubs will be fine for that.  Marital status on pay stubs is irrelevant.
