Hello All,

So, this is my first post:

My fianceé, who is Filipina, works abroad in Singapore. She has been there for several years. When we filed for the 129-F petition, we wrote on the form that Singapore will be her place where she will go for her interview. She isn't a permanent resident, but she's been working there for several years as a Domestic Worker. So, when I send her letters and cards, it is to a Singapore address. I called the embassy in Singapore and asked if this was possible. And, they said that it is possible as long as I am a US citizen (which I am). Has anyone ever been through this type of situation? Or, know anyone that has? I am just curious to know if I should be worried or not since she is still a Philippine citizen. Just need some support and comfort since everyone here seems so supportive with each other. I feel like I should have put down the Philippine embassy even though she doesn't live in the P.I. now. Thanks in advance. And, good luck to all of us!

You should be okay. I think she can be processed in Singapore cause she has been living there for more than a year. The only thing is - she would probably need to get a police clearance from the Philippines.

We have almost a similar problem. In my case, my fiance who is a Filipino citizen is currently working in Malaysia for less than a year. I had inquired at the Malaysian embassy and they said that they can't process him there since he won't satisfy the 1 year residency requirement; and therefore he'll be interviewed in Manila. Anyway, I had filed my I-129 in Feb and I haven't heard anything so far. Hopefully that will work in our case.

Don't worry about. I think you'll be fine. Good luck!

Just continue with the Singapore as point of interview..your fiance just need to coordinate with the phil embassy there for her other legal documents.

She needs to have Police Clearance in Singapore. Tell her to check already how shes going to have this.

For Certificate of No Marriage, she can placed an order thru online. So the document will be deliver in Singapore. Go to National Statistics Office-Phils WEbsite.

With this process, getting Phils Documents from abroad might be a little costly, but its fine..save from the hassle in govt offices there.

I am also in middle east now but my fiance indicated Phils as my point of interview.

goodluck!

Thanks Grace_Niño! Good to know there is someone else with a similar situation...I don't remember asking the embassy about residency requirements, but she's been there for almost seven years.

Wow, another person working abroad?! Thanks, Alexandra. I didn't know about the Certificate of No Marriage. I'll have to go to their website and check this bit of information out.

You're welcome. I'll keep you posted.

Grace

Thanks. I'll keep you posted as well. It looks like you'll be getting some news soon, hopefully. So, I'll definitely keep an eye out. I know we're probably not the first to do this kind of filing, and typically not the usual...

City: California/Bayern - Filed K-1 from China Filed: Lift. Cond. (pnd) Country: Germany
Timeline

It is fine as long as she is there legally with the correct visas. My wife and I were living together in China during our K-1 process, and we filed from China. We had our interview in China as well.

Just some advice from our experience.... Be prepared to provide police reports, etc for her time in Singapore as they will be needed for the K-1. I don't know how difficult the process of obtaining stuff like police reports is in Singapore, but it was pretty difficult to obtain for a foreigner when we lived in China. Start looking into things like that early on so that it isn't a huge nightmare when you need it for the K-1.

Thanks Heathuis,

I asked my fiancee about the police clearance in Singapore, and she told me it takes a couple of weeks. Also, we filed in March, so I should start getting those things in order soon; I hope. She just recently got a new police clearance from the NBI in the Philippines because of her work visa. So, I hope we don't need to get another one from the NBI again anytime soon.
