It would depend on if it goes into AP or is immediately in FP and Issued is my understanding. If it's issued, then you can probably pick it up within a day or two.

Okay, thanks for the response! I suppose it'll be hard to tell until I actually get to the appointment. Guess I'll have to just see how everything goes haha can't say I'm shocked by another hiccup :P I'll be so glad when everything is finished!

Has anyone who interviewed on 10/17 or 10/24 received an email with instructions to pick up their passport/visa at the consulate? If so, how long after the interview did you receive the email? Thanks.

Answer is in this thread. Only one person has received an email and a couple of us have used that email to pick up the passport in person.

We're trying the "Pickup by a Authorized Representative" route tomorrow. Will see how that goes. If it doesn't work, Ginnie's prepared to fly to Montreal on Friday to try to pick it up in person.

The Consulate has no right to hold a Canadian passport indefinitely. This is ridiculous. Shows the contempt that the US has for immigrants.

He would go pick it up but his visa isn't "issued" yet in CEAC status.

Is anyone's visa showing as "issued"? I thought I saw they moved it to "issued" when they sent it out to a courier or Post Office (trying to track that line down now...)

So - hopefully I'm understanding this right, my interview is late November. If there is still a strike on I would be required to stay in Montreal until my package is ready and then pick it up at the consulate?

If this is the case, I'm going to have to quit my job as I cannot take anymore time off (even unpaid) ... Anyone know how long I'd have to stay longer in Montreal if the strike is still on?

Thanks guys!

I had my interview on Monday and went back to pick up they told me  the passport is not ready yet but on the visa status says issued.

I'm sorry you haven't gotten yours yet. From what I have read, they are sending emails when the passport is ready. I'm hoping this strike is over with ASAP so people don't have to make multiple trips out to Montreal. :(

That's crazy. Were you still in Montreal or did you travel back?
Did they give you an option at the interview to indicate that you wanted to pick it up yourself?

They didn’t indicate me to pick it up but the day I went for interview is the Canada post in Montreal started the strike so that  I decided to go and ask them although I came to Montreal all the way from Calgary almost 2 weeks here staying at hotel is frustrating .

I interviewed on 10/22 and got email on 10/30 saying my passport is ready but I need to go to Montreal to pick it up or wait till the strike is over.

Are Fedex and UPS also on strike? Can I ask Fedex/UPS to pick up my passport on my behalf? I cannot easily go to Montreal now, so difficult...
