affidavit for marriage based green card

We have a bit of an issue with this document. I know I should have researched this better beforehand, but I didn’t, so my family was in the US for our wedding in August, I’ve had them sign the affidavit, thinking that my husband’s co worker, who does notary stuff, would sign it for us, but now my husband switched jobs and he cannot reach that guy. Going to the bank on Saturday, as I’ve read that you can have it notarized, if a witness is swearing that the person signed it, but worried they won’t sign it with my husband being the witness.

My husband has kids, so we don’t have that much time to hang out with other people, so the options are limited, one of my friends agreed to do it, but then always had an excuse why she doesn’t have time.

Wondering if my family can have it notarized where I’m from, as I don’t really want to bother my husband’s family.

The local bank to me notarizes documents for customers and non customers for free.

 

The person who is signing the document needs to be there.

Yup, they need to be there to notarized (except in rare circumstances).

 

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the affidavit. It has very little to no weight in showing a bona fide marriage (i.e. what does a coworker at the wedding know about if the marriage is just for a green card or not? And who would submit an affidavit that is negative?). I would focus on the other evidences unless you have very few to no other evidences..

Where does it say it is required?

It is listed as one (of many) items possible for evidence of a bona fide marriage, but does not have much weight as noted above.
