I think you might have a hard time convincing the CO at the embassy in India that the relationship is genuine as you went from a mixed-sex marriage to a same-sex engagement in a very short space of time. I am not judging you and I'm not saying the relationship is not genuine. But what will the interviewing officer think? Are same-sex relationships commonplace in India?

welll idnt think so its going to b that tough to explain this bcz..in India we also have something called Arranged marriages...n parents generally force that to thr children  to go for it...same was wit me...i was forced into it 8 years back n i was not aware of same sex relationship tht much during tht tym...i know this might sound like a torture n inhumane....but it is wat it is...jus that now i am thankful that wen i finally came out to them n told them i cant take it anymore ..thy stood by my side and supported me in my decision..thy met my fiance too ..twice

and about same sex marriages..forget abt it..even same sex relationship in india...its  a CRIME under law(under sec 377) but this is going to b changed this year supreme court will b passing law in approval for same sex relationship in october this year.

Still we have many same sex and LGBT supporters...and I am not affraid of anything now bcz i already suffered a lot by being a coward

Another Washingtonian here!

We had a similar situation (same sex couple, I had about a 2-year overlap between this relationship and my previous marriage to a man. We had separated, but just were procrastinators with the actual divorce). I realize each country is different, but it was never an issue. I had a similar question here in 2016 actually because we were pretty worried about it.
