Vaccinations

Hello all! 

 

Long time reader, first time posting though. My husband and I are currently waiting for NVC to review/accept documents and then schedule the visa interview. I'm trying to stay one step ahead. 

My husband has had a few vaccinations done (as a child), however the NHS does not offer many of the required vaccinations. I have searched through various other vendors/clinics, however I'm still unable to find where he can go to get it all done in the UK. 

He will be here next week to visit for 10 days, so I was thinking that maybe he could get the vaccinations done here in the US? I don't know if that is permitted?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hey,Don't' worry about the vaccines. In your interview appointment letter they will tell you what to do. Actually there are specific appointed doctors by the  US government in your spouse country where he has to go once he got his interview schedule. You can find them through the US embassy website.

What shots are you trying to find? There are only four required shots for adults. Is he at least 19 years old?Two of the four are easily waived.

1. If he has no record of two MMR shots, then he will need one. 
2. He needs Td or Tdap if he has not had one in the last 10 years. The childhood version of DTP will be accepted (Diptheria/Tetanus/Pertussis). That's what I had.
3. Varicella will be waived if he tells them he had chickenpox. It will be waive anyway on the grounds of "not routinely available" because it isn't readily available in the UK.
4. Flu shot will be waived on the grounds of "not flu season". However if October 1 rolls around before his medical, he will need a flu shot because that's the start of flu season.

He can get the shots at the Knightsbridge clinic on the day of his visa exam for a fee. Boots and Tesco give shots. UK travel clinics give shots.

I got my MMR and Tdap done at my GP's at no charge, they accepted that I had chickenpox as a child at my medical and as my medical was in May I didn't need the flu jab.

 

If your husband goes to his GP they can sort it out for him.
