So ... I finally got my Canadian passport back from US Consulate Montreal with IR1 visa stamped (Wohooo!) after roughly 4 months of wait for D5535/221G background check after my interview at Montreal Consulate.

Now, the dilemma is that visa stamped on the passport is valid until July 29th, 2018. My family is in Houston, TX and I couldn't get too much time off for now to travel to Houston and enter at Pearson POE as a permanent resident.

My questions are :

1. Is it ok that I drive to Buffalo and enter at that POE to finalize everything so they can mail the green card to my permanent address in Houston?

2. Yes they gave me a sealed envelope to take with me but in addition to taking my passport do I need/recommended to take anything else with me (yes, I will pay the USCIS fee first) ?

3. Once I enter US at Buffalo POE, should I just go to the Social Security office and apply for the SSN to be mailed at my permanent address in Houston?

I will greatly appreciate some input.
