  1. Hey guys, I've just realized that after the interview, no one gave us any paperwork. The officer said the visa was approved and that was it. I've read that when entering the states we are supposed to hand in a closed envelope or something, but they kept everything at the embassy, including the medical. Is that ok? I don't even have my vaccine form anymore, they kept everything
  2. I have a CR1/R1 immigrant visa I’m traveling to New York, I have a connection flight in Houston this will be the port of entry and I only have 1 hour and 25 minutes to my next flight I am wondering is that enough time and how long this process with the customs takes.
  3. Question: I recently visited the US with my husband and son age 1. We were ask how many cash we had and how long we are planning to stay. I said for a month that we were ask who are we going to visit in said families. We were given only one month. Why? This was not a problem though cause that's the initial time we wanted but normally you should be granted 6 months. Anyway I wanted to visit my friend in California nx month would that be a problem is it too soon I just came back July 8. Please help any advice will be appreciated.
  4. Are you able to choose your port of entry, and do you have to prove onward destination if a different city you plan to live?
  5. So ... I finally got my Canadian passport back from US Consulate Montreal with IR1 visa stamped (Wohooo!) after roughly 4 months of wait for D5535/221G background check after my interview at Montreal Consulate. Now, the dilemma is that visa stamped on the passport is valid until July 29th, 2018. My family is in Houston, TX and I couldn't get too much time off for now to travel to Houston and enter at Pearson POE as a permanent resident. My questions are : 1. Is it ok that I drive to Buffalo and enter at that POE to finalize everything so they can mail the green card to my permanent address in Houston? 2. Yes they gave me a sealed envelope to take with me but in addition to taking my passport do I need/recommended to take anything else with me (yes, I will pay the USCIS fee first) ? 3. Once I enter US at Buffalo POE, should I just go to the Social Security office and apply for the SSN to be mailed at my permanent address in Houston? I will greatly appreciate some input.
  6. I am a LPR and I have checked us citizen on i9 and on FAFSA . I just recently realized how big of a mistake I have made and have decided to not apply for naturalization. I want to travel to my home country to visit my mother but I am worried about my school federal loan that says I'm a citizen being discovered. I have talked to 2 immigration lawyers , the first told me it would be a risk to travell abroad as we don't know what the customs officer see on their database. The second one told me not to worry so I am not sure what to do. Has anyone been in or knows someone in a similar situation? I can't imagine never visiting home and seeing my family however I can't risk being removed, I have a usc child and if I was to be removed his father would not let him go with him or let him visit. How does uscis and border officers finds out about false claims?I appreciate your responses in advance.
  7. Hello, I have my EAD/AP and am waiting for my green card through my US citizen wife. We are taking a vacation and coming back through JFK airport together. Has anyone traveled in this circumstance (one spouse is USC and other spouse is pending)? If so, at the PoE/airport in the US on the way back, should: 1) we both go to the US Citizen line and approach immigration together (advantage: line is shorter/quicker and we are together) 2) she go to US Citizen line and I go to "other/visitor" line and we approach immigration separately (advantage: we are both in the "correct" line); or 3) we both go the "other/visitor" line and approach immigration together (advantage: I am not in the US Citizen line thereby avoiding the appearance of seeking to be treated as a US Citizen, and we are together) This is for JFK if that makes a difference (it shouldn't). Any thoughts or has anyone done this? Note: i will be bringing my NOAs and marriage certificate as well as the EAD/GC so not worried about the documents I need.
  8. Hello. Can my spouse enter the US with an immigrant visa without myself being present in the country? This is due to my studies overseas and my spouse's visa expires before my graduation. I will join her shortly after and a joint sponsor will be present in the US at the time of her entry. Help with this issue would be much appreciated!
  9. Hey! So long story short. I had my K1&K2 interview yesterday. When before the interview I had asked people that could schedule the interview if I Needed to bring my son (the K2 applicant) with me. They had said it was fine as long as I brought along all of his documents. Now fast forward to the interview! I was approved! BUT they did not approve the K2 as the only need to have him in the presence of an officer and have his guardian swear an oath on his behalf. They also gave me a document clarifying this (after the misinformation on the phone I don’t do much with out a document proving what was said) So there is a very good chance I may cross the boarder first and have my son follow. What documentation would another adult need to be able to take my Son with his K2 visa across the boarder as I am his only legal guardian and I can not cross back to Canada to retreive him.
  10. My husband's visa was approved on the 23rd of November and he is still waiting on his visa paperwork. He will enter the US in El Paso. When he goes to get his visa stamped, will he only need the packet that he picks up (unopened of course) and his passport? Does he need anything else?
