  1. Hello, excuse me if this is in the wrong forum but I have a few questions for the experts here since I can't really find the answers online. I'm from the Netherlands, and I'm moving to my American wife in Arizona. Everything is approved (after 15 months finally). I paid the immigration /greencard fee like a month ago (like 30 days ago). I still have to finish up some business here in the Netherlands, i'm getting rid of my house and i'm quitting my job by the end of December. My temp immigrant visa is valid until March but i'm planning to go before the end of December. My question is, is my Greencard already on its way to my wife in the USA. Or will it only be send AFTER entering the USA/POE? I can't really find anything about this online. I know it can take up to 120 days though. And the same goes for my Social security number. Because I want everything to be ready as soon as I enter the usa. I want to work asap and open a bank account etc. I don't want to sit still for another few weeks/months after I arrive. Is it possible to already work with that temporary immigrant visa? And how about opening a bankaccount and getting a creditcard etc, is that even possible right now? Or do I have to wait till we receive my greencard and ssn etc? And what do they exactly do and ask at the POE when you're entering with that temporary immigrant visa? I read some reviews here but it wasn't really detailed. Thanks for your time
  2. I live in Washington State USA, and the closest major airport is Vancouver BC Canada. We have been approved for our K1 fiance visa. She is from the Philippines. We were wondering if she can fly from Manila into Vancouver, and we can cross the border into Washington State. Can a K1 USA fiance visa have a Vancouver Canada port of entry? Can we get special permission? Thanks.
  3. Hello! my flight is this june 2019. What is your experience in your port of entry at San Francisco Int'l Airport?
  4. Hi good day. I just completed my interview this morning and gladly they approved my visa. I am just waiting for the delivery of the documents and my cfo appointment. But what are the documents that CBP officers are gonna ask for at the port of entry in the United States?
  5. Hi All, I have heard that the USC should travel ahead and wait in the US for the immigrant to arrive. Is this true? Or should we be able to arrive together? Thanks.
  6. Hey guys, I've just realized that after the interview, no one gave us any paperwork. The officer said the visa was approved and that was it. I've read that when entering the states we are supposed to hand in a closed envelope or something, but they kept everything at the embassy, including the medical. Is that ok? I don't even have my vaccine form anymore, they kept everything
  7. I have a CR1/R1 immigrant visa I’m traveling to New York, I have a connection flight in Houston this will be the port of entry and I only have 1 hour and 25 minutes to my next flight I am wondering is that enough time and how long this process with the customs takes.
  8. Question: I recently visited the US with my husband and son age 1. We were ask how many cash we had and how long we are planning to stay. I said for a month that we were ask who are we going to visit in said families. We were given only one month. Why? This was not a problem though cause that's the initial time we wanted but normally you should be granted 6 months. Anyway I wanted to visit my friend in California nx month would that be a problem is it too soon I just came back July 8. Please help any advice will be appreciated.
  9. Are you able to choose your port of entry, and do you have to prove onward destination if a different city you plan to live?
  10. So ... I finally got my Canadian passport back from US Consulate Montreal with IR1 visa stamped (Wohooo!) after roughly 4 months of wait for D5535/221G background check after my interview at Montreal Consulate. Now, the dilemma is that visa stamped on the passport is valid until July 29th, 2018. My family is in Houston, TX and I couldn't get too much time off for now to travel to Houston and enter at Pearson POE as a permanent resident. My questions are : 1. Is it ok that I drive to Buffalo and enter at that POE to finalize everything so they can mail the green card to my permanent address in Houston? 2. Yes they gave me a sealed envelope to take with me but in addition to taking my passport do I need/recommended to take anything else with me (yes, I will pay the USCIS fee first) ? 3. Once I enter US at Buffalo POE, should I just go to the Social Security office and apply for the SSN to be mailed at my permanent address in Houston? I will greatly appreciate some input.
  11. I am a LPR and I have checked us citizen on i9 and on FAFSA . I just recently realized how big of a mistake I have made and have decided to not apply for naturalization. I want to travel to my home country to visit my mother but I am worried about my school federal loan that says I'm a citizen being discovered. I have talked to 2 immigration lawyers , the first told me it would be a risk to travell abroad as we don't know what the customs officer see on their database. The second one told me not to worry so I am not sure what to do. Has anyone been in or knows someone in a similar situation? I can't imagine never visiting home and seeing my family however I can't risk being removed, I have a usc child and if I was to be removed his father would not let him go with him or let him visit. How does uscis and border officers finds out about false claims?I appreciate your responses in advance.
