Hello to all. Im am sending my forms in next week for my wife to get a permanent resident card. The question I have is income requirements, I quit my job last year in June and been working on my own ever since then. Last year Tax return was around 18k. 2016 was 55k 2015 was 75k. I know last years incone will not be enough because I sponsored my ex wife and she will count as a dependent as well as my daughter, so I will have a house hold of 4 people. Min. income requirements is around 32k. I have my house paid off and 2 investment propertys the 2 investment property tax appraisal is 150k. My house is appraised at 140k. And I have around 110k in my 401k and ira accounts. So theres rough 250k in sellable assets that I can use if need be. So my qyestion is since I wont be able to get a employment letter. Will my assets be enough to cover the income requirements,  my wife worried about that. I can ask my mom to use her assets and income but that will make mine invalid. Should I be worried about the current situation? Or will my assets be enough to satisfied thier requirements. She said we should ask a lawyer but that may cost some money. I really will like to have all my ducks in order before sending them a 1700 dollar check for filing fees. Thanks to all. Any advice is helpful.

Your assets sound like they should be sufficient. Be sure to provide all appropriate documentation. Documentation for an investment house may be more complicated (ownership, any mortgage or liens, current value, etc.).

Why $1700? AOS from a  K-1 is is $1140 + $85 biometrics.

Isn't $1700 the value associated when adjusting from B1/B2?

Then you are posting in the wrong area.  Let me move it! :)
